61 year old Jose Alba was attacked in the NYC bodega where he worked by a 32 year old convicted felon, Austin Simon. Simon’s girlfriend had called him to the store when her welfare card was denied a $3 charge for a bag of chips. Security camera footages shows Simon confront and push Alba into a tight corner. Alba responded by protecting himself with a knife. Simon, who had served time in the state prison for assaulting a police officer in 2016, died at the scene. Despite the obvious need for self-defense, Jose Alba was charged with 2nd degree murder.
